Dear Parents,

We hope that your family is having a wonderful summer, and you are getting excited for the start of a new school year. This year at EGMS we are placing a special emphasis on the academic, social, and emotional health of our community. This starts with our collective vision:

“We believe in creating genuine relationships to inspire growth and achievement.  We provide meaningful learning opportunities for all students. Students thrive emotionally, socially, and intellectually in a culture of acceptance, kindness, and perseverance.”

We have made some changes to the structure of our community to work toward this goal. First, “Kindness” is the word of the year for our community!  Kindness will be a central element in all interactions at EGMS, and we are implementing a kindness based reward system. We would love to have similar “kindness” discussions happening at home.  Second, when you see your child’s schedule this year you will likely notice the following changes:

  • AVID schoolwide period for all students every Wednesday – this is a 25 minute class to support student organization, goal setting, and academic progress for every student grades 6-8.
  • 6th grade AVID Elective class – This opens the AVID elective class to our 6th grade students.
  • 6th grade Launch – this is a one trimester elective class to support a successful transition to middle school, it could include the following: social emotional learning, digital citizenship, building community, & strategies for academic success.

The Elton Gregory Middle School administration team is excited to welcome and support your child for the upcoming school year. We are looking forward to meeting you and developing the strong partnership that we all know is essential for middle school student success. This letter provides you with important dates and information for the upcoming year.

We are pleased to welcome new EGMS teachers and returning teachers who have changed their role:
